Help us help you, with the worlds largest surfboard and Indiegogo

This is the link to our brand new page on Indiegogo.com which is one of the biggest crowdfunding websites out there. We are trying to fund the building of the worlds largest surfboard. Alongside this we're also planning to break the world record for the number of people riding a surfboard at any one time. Which will mean more than 47 people riding it for 10 seconds or more! Doesn't sound too difficult does it, although the board will be 45ft long and over 10ft wide!!

Check out the link and help us reach our goal. Loads of interesting and money can't buy perks for you to check out too. Enjoy and help spread the word.

We're going through changeeeesss! *can't sing

So it's been a while since we had an official update. The work Emma did really pushed us forward to complete tasks we had planned for a while. Our site has been given boost by updating the Team page with all our sponsors. It's early days still and we look forward to working with them all at various events.

The store is looking more and more polished with multiple improvements made. We have corrected the images that looped, added a zoom tool to see the super sharp detail and some cool slideshows on the home pages. To get back to the less technical side, we would like to thank various helpers along the way. Our photos were done on two seperate shoots; the main product shots were in the hands of Jonathan Fleetwood and Naomi Broadway and the skate and surf location shoot was performed by Kelly Hogan. A big thank you to these guys, all of whom have there seperate sites on our Link page (at the bottom of the page).

There will probably more to say later today or tomorrow

Diary of an Intern - Week 6ish

Hi all,

Apologies for my absence, after being away for a while I have now nearly finished my final week at Left & Right!

It's been a brilliant experience and I have learnt a lot about the brand and marketing and promotion and all that :) First hand experience is definitely a valuable way of obtaining knowledge and understanding and I can't thank Left & Right enough for letting me do this! Will be sad to go!

In the last of my time here I have been working on putting together videos for Left & Right (after many successful photo shoots - thanks to Kelly Hogan (http://www.wix.com/kellyhoga9/kelly-hogan-photography) the amazing photographer! These will be up as soon as all the editing has been finished, music has been added etc. Going to be awesome!

The surfboard project is still carrying on and I will be working on it in the background whilst I am back at Uni. Will try and keep you guys in touch with it through Facebook - so keep a look out!

I hope my work here at Left & Right has helped them out a little bit and I look forward to when they're a big and famous brand!

Thank you for listening!
Goodbye for now :)

Diary of an Intern - Week 5

Hello everyone,

5 weeks in and I’m still here :)

Right, what have I been up to this week…
Due to complications we didn’t trek down to Cornwall, but we have spoken to the board producers and everything is still on track and going well! We’ve contacted some companies who may be interested in transporting the board for us which is a tiny, little, insignificant step in the whole plan really.

I have also been sewing and labelling and basically helping to make the products more beautiful and special for when you buy them :)

I have been taking photographs of certain models (who you may recognise - see Britain's Next Top Model Cycle 3) wearing a certain brand you may have heard of (just for the record that is Left & Right). Check out the online store mens page for MY photograph (yep, it's got my name on it cause I am that official!). Also appreciate all Mark's hard work on the amazing online store - including the flip flops (again my amazing photography, not to brag or anything).

I have been organising with all of Left & Right's sponsors the dates and things for the photo shoot and filming in order to get some lovely photos and footage of our sponsors.

We also had another meeting with The Tattoo Parlour to confirm the next steps in the design collaboration - very much looking forward to the finished product! Along with that I tried a cherry bakewell milkshake - possibly my new favourite addiction (well at least until I've tried as many flavours as possible!).

I think I've rambled enough now - well at least for 2 weeks worth as I'm away for the next 2 weeks!

See you later :)

Diary of an Intern - Week 4

Hi everyone,

Ok an update for my fourth week - can’t believe it’s been four weeks already!

So this week I have finished the ‘world’s largest Surfboard proposal’ so everything is all official now :). I’ve applied to Guinness World Records so we’re just waiting to hear back from them…aaand me and Gemma met up with seafront services to discuss it and they’re backing us completely! So the next step is to travel down to Cornwall next week to meet with the board makers to finalise production! Me and Mark have also been on a mini adventure to Bournemouth Seafront to take some photos and get some ideas of places where we can permanently place the board…we like the beach lots.

I have been contacting the Left & Right team and organising times to meet in order to have a photo shoot and record some footage so that we can make a video to showcase all the talent we have to offer. I am also working on producing a brand video and a new product range video to go along with the team Left & Right video to keep you guys entertained!

I just uploaded some photos from our mini intern Lacey’s day in the office, they’re pretty funny – I definitely think she has a future in photography.

Also Mark has pretty much finished the shiny new website so check it out because it looks brilliant! Very professional and stuff. Plus you can buy lots of nice things on there of the cool variety.

Right that's all I have for now, speak to you next week!

Diary of an Intern - Week 3

Hey everyone,

Ok third week in and I’ve been very busy doing worky type things such as…
Designing some window display stickers for Left & Right for stockists to put up in their window displays, which will let everyone know that the store is extremely reputable because they sell Left & Right clothing.

I have been planning and drawing up the storyboards for creating some new videos for the Left & Right YouTube channel (just like Spielberg) and am hoping to be able to film them soon – I saw Harry Potter at the weekend so I’m feeling pretty inspired.

I also went with the Left & Right team to Aruba to discuss our Guinness World Record idea to break the world’s largest surfboard record aaaand the most people surfing on the board at one time record (it’s gonna be so totally awesome) especially as Aruba have agreed to hold the launch party :)

I was involved with drawing up the blueprints for the surfboard as well in order to help obtain as many sponsors as possible. We drew it to scale…it’s pretty big… Along with all the other preparation for the surfboard I have also been working on writing up a proposal for the event, just to be organised and all that.

I went to the local youth club with Gemma (sales and marketing genius) to discuss an involvement in their new magazine project by Teen Identity, which will be distributed to local schools and clubs. Some of their members want to write an article on fashion and are hopefully going to visit us next week to have a look around and learn a little bit more about the fashion industry and Left & Right as well.

Gemma also took me on a sales trip to talk to local shops and companies about stocking our brand. It was quite successful and we received a lot of positive feedback, not bad for my first sales trip!

I also added a new Facebook tab to the page, it allows you to shop directly as well as upload your own photos to the gallery to show off your style. I will update it when the new clothing lines have been added to the online store (not long now!)

Oh and I just had a coconut milkshake and a sparkly cupcake :)
Stay classy San Diego.

The Diary of an Intern - Week 2

Hey everyone,

So one week on and I'm a week older and wiser :) This is what I've been up to this week with Left & Right...

I have been working on a very exciting project (drum roll please...) to break two Guinness World Records! The first record to break: build the world's largest surfboard (simples) and the second: get the highest amount of people to ride the world's largest surfboard. This awesome idea is in the process of being organised and put into practise. Currently I am contacting companies in order to gain sponsors to help Left & Right make this dream reality. There has been a lot of interest (no surprise there..) into this project and I will keep you posted along the way.

I have also been looking into mobile phone apps for Left & Right. I will keep you posted on this ‘under construction’ thought...especially as more brain storming and genius ideas are needed. Still it’s in the thought process.

We also have had a discussion with The Tattoo Parlour recently, discussing the idea of a collaboration of our brand and their designs. So will keep you posted on more information on that concept as it develops and grows.

Plus I have been doodling and creating some designs of my own to maybe introduce some new, fresh and exciting lines (note heavy emphasis on the maybe, my drawing and ideas may not be any good!).

So all in all that pretty much summarises my week! Until next time...

The Diary of an Intern - Week 1

Hi everyone,

I'm a new temporary addition to the Left & Right team for the next 8 weeks, working to gain experience, learn as much as I can and help Left & Right become even bigger and better!

I will be writing every week to update you on what I've been up to and give you an insight into a life with the urban clothing brand.

Firstly, a small introduction - I am an upcoming third year student at Southampton Solent studying Fashion Management with Marketing. I love all things related to fashion and clothing, as my very large wardrobe proves...

This week I have been doing a mix of different things ranging from making the Left & Right Facebook fan page (get liking please!), contacting companies and individuals who may be interested in sponsorship and promotions, coming up with ideas in which will help to get the Left & Right brand name out there (not many of them brilliant but i guess it's a start!) and potentially gaining a new stockist for Left & Right (fingers crossed!) along with small tasks such as twitter updates (we like random statuses best). On the more non-official side I have also been secretly shopping for the Left & Right products I personally like (and can add to my already over filled wardrobe), contributing to the random office conversations (including quite a lot of discussions on swagger jagger) and trying milkshakes from an awesome tattoo parlour/cafe. Just your usual 9-5 really...

That's all until next week now I guess, so look out for a new post!

A little update...

Hi everyone,

Seeing as we haven’t informed you of what we’ve been up to recently here is an update to make up for it.

Lots of things have been happening this week - including our new intern starting, the updating of the new Left & Right website and the introduction to the new Left & Right Facebook page (not to mention all the other hard work in-between). The weather has been quite random along with most of the office conversation... overall a productive week fuelled by milkshakes.

So join us on twitter @leftandrighty, ‘like’ us on Facebook and keep an eye out for the new website!

That’s all for now, speak to you all soon.
